California Dragon in Yellowstone Park
First Photo of a Dragon in Yellowstone Park
This is the first and only known photograph of a dragon in Yellowstone National Park. I had been hiking in the backcountry and snacking on some wild mushrooms I happened to find along near Firehole Lake, when the dragon suddenly rose from the steam and mist and just as quickly vanished. But I was able to get a photo as he roared at me.
I returned to this location several times afterwards, but he never again appeared. When I saw the photo, I was shocked to find I’d actually met him, or her, before. I don’t ordinarily see many dragons, so it was easy to recall our first encounter at Galleta Meadows in the Anzo-Borrego desert of California. This explains why I decided to post this in the California section.
It seems obvious now that he, or she, found an underground passageway that connects Yellowstone magma tubes to the area around Anzo-Borrego, which explains how a desert dragon managed to appears in Yellowstone. Had, he, or she, traveled above ground, somebody would undoubtedly have seen him and reported the encounter. Many people report seeing the dragon undulating his, or her, way through the desert sands at Galleta Meadows, along with other creatures like a giant scorpion and gigantic grasshopper. These critters seem to have grown to be enormous by foraging on oranges in the nearby groves. But there are no mushrooms in the desert.
